i simply had to go back and read your post about london because i love seeing other people's perspectives on the topic (and also can't get enough of your writing) !! thank you for reading as always, clau xx
*But as Simon & Garfunkel warned: “And each town looks the same to me / The movies and the factories / And every stranger's face I see / Reminds me that I long to be / Homeward bound."*
it is simon and garfunkel weather. sweater weather is simon and garfunkel weather.
As someone always packing up and going, I have to say that it takes quite a lot of courage to stay and build something new where there are already roots and warmth and everyone you love. Ideas of seeking greener pastures everywhere you look. I always think of that quote: “wherever you go, there you are”
thank you so much for sharing, that is a beautiful quote<3 and yes i wholeheartedly agree, there can be courage in both options (although major respect for living the nomad life, i'm sure it is very fulfilling and exciting:))
I love this! As someone who still lives in their small town & has had these thoughts about leaving constantly while watching so many leave only for those who have left to remind me it’s not all that it’s cracked up to be & return home!
thank you for sharing that, kellie, it is literally all the reassurance that i needed hahaha. small town girls who find happiness in their little lives unite 🤝
“someone, somewhere, has decided can only be found in the continent’s major capitals” - I’ve always wondered why this is, I guess when you’re younger the thrill of the big city holds so much potential. As someone who has done it multiple times, I have to say, the countryside is always calling me back. Really enjoyed this piece and thought it was brilliantly written 💕
thank you so much for reading and for sharing your experience! i've also been obsessed with this idea, and although i do recognise that the potential for a brighter future might hold true, there is so much beauty in small towns and opportunities to turn it into a place where we can be fulfilled:)
this was so enjoyable to read. It can be hard to leave home and everything which is comfortable to you but the world is so wide, we should see as much of it as possible <3
and i wholeheartedly agree ! it was just a thought i wanted to share about a recent personal experience, but i am 100% with you on that one and aim to continue exploring this beautiful world:) thank you for reading xx
this was beautiful. i really felt the part about carrying dissatisfaction with us wherever we go. the way you framed leaving home and then seeing it differently after was really moving. it definitely resonated with me.
and here i was struggling to come up with a song to tie this idea with hahaha i should have asked you instead!! that is the perfect piece to represent this feeling, thank you so much, philip x
as the one who always leaves: 🥲

This piece reminded me of the song ‘Gravity,’ beautifully sung by Alison Krauss (and written by R Castleman)
